Sky Bet Championship club Sunderland have announced the signing of former Flying Eagles forward, Ahmed Abdullahi.

Abdullahi joined Sunderland from Belgian Pro League outfit, KAA Gent for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old signed a four-year contract with option of an additional year.

The Nigerian scored 21 goals in 28 league appearances for Gent’s B Team last season.

Sunderland sporting director, Kristjaan Speakman has kind words for Abdullahi.

“We are delighted to welcome Ahmed to Sunderland. He is a natural centre forward, who enjoys playing in central areas, in addition to being an excellent finisher,” Soeakman told the club’s official website.

“He has an impressive goalscoring record at youth level and he recently stepped up into Gent’s senior team. We will give him time to settle and support him in that process, but he will bring immediate competition to our attacking line and we look forward to seeing him grow with us throughout the season and beyond.”

He was part of Flying Eagles squad to the 2022 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.
