Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made a comparison between Bukayo Saka and Lionel Messi after their 2-0 win over Wolves in their Premier League opener on Saturday.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka scored for the hosts as they began the new season with maximum points.

Saka provided the assist for Havertz’s goal before he cut in from the right and rifled home a ferocious effort past Jose Sa.

Arteta was quizzed about Saka after the game and why teams allow him to cut inside onto his left foot.

He replied: “Good players, you know. With [Lionel] Messi, I know that he’s going to come in here and put the ball there. He does it all the time. It’s the quality of the players.”
