Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro says he won’t abandon his trusted 3-4-3 formation in the team’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 clash against Cameroon.
Peseiro used a 4-3-3 formation in the team’s opener against Equatorial Guinea which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Portuguese has however opted for a 3-4-3 formation in the last two games against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.
The Portuguese claimed there was no need for him to change a winning strategy.
Peseiro however said it is important for his players to work on their finishing.
“I saw statistics yesterday, we created the highest number of chances in the group stage,” Peseiro told a press conference on Friday.
“If we create chances, then why do we need to change our style of play. Our team is playing well, we don’t need to change our strategy.
“What we need to do is start converting our chances. That’s what has been lacking for us.
“I think at times you can create less chances and score more goals. We hope things will improve for us in this aspect tomorrow.
“We want to score and win. It is important to defend well like we have been doing since the start of the competition.”
The Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions will clash at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Saturday.
The encounter will start at 9pm Nigeria time.
