Former France midfielder, Emmanuel Petit, has said it is a pity that Manchester City’s Rodri will never win the Ballon d’Or award.
Rodri is believed to be one of the frontrunners for this year’s prize.
The 28-year-old won the Premier League title with City last season and lifted the Euro 2024 trophy with Spain.
But Petit believes that players like Rodri often go unrecognized in world football for individual awards.
“Pity that Rodri will never win the Ballon d’Or because he deserves it,” Petit told Yahoo Sports.
“Rodri has been the best holding midfielder in the world for the last couple of seasons.
“If he were to be recognised with the Ballon d’Or, then he would be winning it for all the players that normally go unrecognized when it comes to individual awards.”
