Chelsea are interested in signing Jhon Duran from Aston Villa before the deadline, with manager Mauricio Pochettino looking to beef up his attack.

There has been no official bid for the 20-year-old striker and it remains to be seen what Villa’s position will be regarding his future.

Villa manager Unai Emery cast doubt over Duran’s availability for transfer, after confirming he had picked up an injury ahead of Friday’s FA Cup third-round tie at Chelsea.

“Jhon Duran is now injured, but I am happy with him. The last action against Everton, he was injured. For the next weeks, he is not going to be available,” Emery said.

Duran only joined the Midlands club from Chicago Fire last summer and has made 14 appearances in the Premier League so far, all of them from the bench.

The Colombia international has four goals in all competitions.
