Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum is optimistic his side can still earn a berth in the quarter-finals at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The West Africans fell to a slim 1-0 defeat against world champions Spain in Nantes on Sunday.
It was their second defeat in Group C following last Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Brazil.
The Super Falcons will need to beat Japan in their last group game on Wednesday to have any chance of making it to the last eight.
Waldrum is confident his side can beat the Asian champions.
“The way the matches had gone, we still needed a result against Japan and had the chance of going through, so whether we lose or we draw, we still had the opportunity,” the American explained.
“I think if we beat Japan depending on what happens in Canada’s group since they have got six points.”
