Nigeria’s Olajide Omotayo crashed out in Round 64 of the men’s singles table tennis event, losing 4-1 to Iran’s Noshad Alamiyan.
Omotayo started the game in commanding fashion, winning the first set 11-6.
The 29-year-old, however, lost the next four 11-5, 11-4, 12-10 and 11-8.
Omotayo also crashed out at the same stage four years ago in Tokyo.
Team Nigeria’s other representative in the men’s singles event, Aruna Quadri, will take on Romania’s Eduard Ionescu.
Offiong Edem and Fatimo Bello are billed for action on Sunday and Monday, respectively, in the women’s singles.
