Spanish goalkeeper, David de Gea’s return to Manchester United has been thwarted.

De Gea was ready to re-join Manchester United if manager Erik ten Hag left, but the shot-stopper is now set to join another club.

The 33-year-old told his inner circle that he would be happy to return to Old Trafford if Ten Hag and John Murtough were no longer there, according to The Athletic.

While Murtough has gone, Ten Hag has signed a new contract.

However, De Gea is now set to announce a different new club in the coming days.

He has a string of options available to him, including clubs in Saudi Arabia, America and Italy.

De Gea left Man United after the 2022/23 campaign.
