Fede Valverde has been assigned the Real Madrid number 8 shirt.

The shirt number was vacant following the decision of Toni Kroos to retire from playing active football.

The club has now confirmed that Valverde will wear the jersey from next season.

Kylian Mbappé, who recently joined the La Liga and Champions League holders, will wear the number 9 shirt, as expected.

Mbappé never requested number 10 out of respect for Luka Modrić, who currently wears the shirt at the Bernabeu.
