Portugal manager, Roberto Martinez has singled out goalkeeper Diogo Costa for praise following his side’s Euro 2024 last-16 win over Slovenia.

Costa was Portugal’s hero in their last-16 win over Slovenia as he saved three penalties in the shootout following a 0-0 after 120 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Martinez said his team was proud of Costa, adding that he reached a completely different level.

Martinez said at his post-match interview:

“Today I think he reached a completely different level. The one-on-one situation was incredible.

“Then he had the focus to make three consecutive saves. We have to be very proud of him.”
