El-Kanemi Warriors head coach, Aliyu Zubairu has revealed the secret behind his side’s impressive President Federation Cup victory over Abia Warriors.

The Borno Army defeated Abia Warriors 2-0 in the final of Nigeria’s oldest football competition at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday night.

It was the Maiduguri club’s first title in 32 years and the third time they will be lifting the President Federation Cup.

Nasiru Salihu scored the two goals for El-Kanemi on the night.

El-Kanemi Warriors totally dominated the game and truly deserved the win.

Zubairu said the youthfulness of his side made the difference for them.

“We have perseverance and resilience to keep going, no matter the situation. I knew they will keep pushing,” he said after the game.

“The age advantage of the team gave us the edge and the trophy.”
