Chelsea Legend, Frank Lampard has urged England manager Gareth Southgate to start midfielder Kobbie Mainoo when the Three Lions clash with Denmark at the Euro 2024.
England will face Denmark in their second Group C game on Thursday evening.
Southgate’s men currently top the group following their 1-0 win against Serbia last weekend.
When asked which England player he would play in midfield ahead of Alexander-Arnold against Denmark, Lampard said Mainoo, adding that nothing fazes the Manchester United midfielder.
“I think I would look at Kobbie Mainoo and think about putting him in,” Lampard told BBC Sport.
“I just think these kids sometimes come along and they just settle straight into the team. And they just have this awareness.
“He plays that pass through the lines. You need to be able to find the pass at the right time, Cesc [Fabregas] was brilliant at doing it, through a tight space, through a tight line. I think he sees it, nothing fazes him.
“I would certainly like to look at him at this stage [of the Euro 2024 competition].”
