Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema has opined that his former teammate, Vinicius Junior will be awarded the Ballon d’Or this season.

Benzema, who now plays his football in the Saudi Pro League, won the award in 2022 while he was plying his trade at Real Madrid.

The French striker and Vinicius played 186 games together for Los Blancos across competitions and managed 42 joint goal contributions in the process.

Vinicius helped Real Madrid win the Champions League and La Liga this year and Benzema wrote on his Instagram story, along with a picture of the Brazilian: “Ballon d’Or.”

Real Madrid beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 to claim their 15th Champions League trophy with Vini scoring one of the goals.

Should the Brazilian win the prize in the end, he would have to fend off competition from Real Madrid teammates Jude Bellingham and Toni Kroos, who’ve had stellar campaigns.
