Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel has hailed England U21 star, Chinonso ‘Noni’ Madueke for finishing the 2023-24 Premier League season strongly.
Towards the end of the season, Madueke made nine consecutive starts for the Blues in the Premier League and it was the first time since he joined from PSV Eindhoven.
He scored 2 goals and provided three assists last season to help the Blues secure a spot in next season’s Conference League.
Mikel noted that though young England international, Cole Palmer stole most of the headlines, Madueke was impressive.
The former Super Eagles captain told The Obi One Podcast, “Fantastic player. I thought he was the spark towards the end of the season. I know yes Cole Palmer was the guy but Madueke finished the season really well.
“He chipped in a few goals, created some chances, was the spark, everything went through him. He was trying to do something on the pitch.”
The Blues have lined up friendly matches with Wrexham, Celtic, Club America, Manchester City and Real Madrid for the off season.
