Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent, has expressed his disappointment over Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe’s potential departure from Emirates Stadium.

Bent said the English midfielder played a crucial role in saving manager Mikel Arteta’s job, adding that he is a joy to watch on the field.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Bent suggested that Arsenal might be considering selling Smith Rowe to balance their finances.

However, he also speculated that the player’s desire for more playing time could be a factor.

Smith Rowe has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer in a bid to get regular playing time in another club.

“It might be also, not balancing the books, but also about profit and Arsenal selling him. You are right, he had that season when he and Saka almost saved Arteta’s job,” Bent told talkSPORT.

“Arteta was struggling and the two were brilliant. But you get 100% profit from Emile Smith Rowe. It would be sad to see him leave. As a young kid coming through, I loved watching him play for Arsenal, but again, if he is not going to get many opportunities, then he needs to play.”
