Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote admitted that Abia Warriors made things difficult for his side in their Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 34 encounter on Sunday.

The hosts scored four late goals to record an emphatic 4-0 victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

The victory helped ease the disappointment of their President Federation Cup defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors.

Ogunbote gave credit to Abia Warriors for their impressive performance in the game.

“It was a good match, I know their coach (Bethel Orji) is a sound coach and Abia Warriors have a competent team. We needed to sweat to get the result” he told the club’s media.

“In the first half, we should have taken the lead, but there was a lot of anxiety. Anxiety because we have few matches to go and there have been intimidating results before now.

“In addition, Abia Warriors being a good side, were able to resist every antics we put up until the second half.

“I think, the important thing was that my team was playing well, the missing factor was the goal until we got it right”, added the former Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars and Remo Stars’ handler.

Shooting Stars remain in fourth position on the Nigeria Premier Football League table despite the win.
