The Taraba State Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Joseph Joshua, has tied the ongoing wrangling in the state chapter of the Nigerian Football Associate to the inability to revive FC Taraba and the Taraba Queens.
The State-owned male and female football teams have been out of existence for over five years due to crises.
In a media parley on Saturday in Jalingo, the Commissioner assured that Governor Agbu Kefas will right the wrongs that have crippled the activities of football in the state.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to harnessing and showcasing all the sports potentials in the state, saying there are plans to identify and groom talents spread across the rural communities.
He also revealed that plans are underway to renovate the Jolly Nyame Stadium in the Jalingo metropolis, the Gembu stadium in Sardauna local government council and the Wukari council.
“This past year has been marked by significant progress, particularly in youth empowerment and sports development, which are crucial for the future of our beloved State.
”In our second year, we will place emphasis on the Jalingo Stadium, along with sports facilities in Wukari and Gembu, which will undergo substantial upgrades to better engage our youth and help export their sports talents to the world.” The commissioner promised.“
“As we move forward, we are determined to build on these successes and achieve even greater milestones. Together, we can continue to empower our youth, develop our sports infrastructure, and ensure that Taraba State remains a beacon of excellence and progress” he said
As a result of the leadership tussle, leaders of the state FA, have dragged themselves before the federal high court sitting in Jalingo, seeking judgement on who should preside over the affairs of the round leather sport in the state.
