Former England internationals, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, have suggested that outgoing Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp could potentially take up a future role as president of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

Klopp, who took over as Liverpool’s manager in October 2015, concluded his remarkable tenure at Anfield with a victory in his final match on Sunday, May 19.

Under his guidance, Liverpool finished third in the 2023-24 Premier League season with 82 points.

On “The Rest Is Football” podcast, Lineker shared a rumour about Klopp’s next move: “I heard a little rumour that he might end up being president of Borussia Dortmund, which would be amazing.

“I think he will definitely take some time out because he’s genuine when he says he’s run out of energy. There will be a battle for him or they’ll be lining up in a year’s time.”

Shearer, echoing Lineker’s comments, added, “I heard the same, yeah.”
