Former Manchester United star, Rio Ferdinand has emphasized that the prospect of Jadon Sancho rejoining the club depends solely on the departure of manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho, who had a turbulent relationship with Ten Hag, opted to return to Borussia Dortmund earlier this year.
Despite his mixed performance at Old Trafford since his £73 million transfer in 2021, Sancho showcased his talent during his loan spell with Dortmund, notably contributing to their Champions League journey.
While speculation arose about a permanent Dortmund move for the 24-year-old, recent form has fueled talks of his potential stay at United.
However, Ferdinand believes Sancho’s return is unlikely as long as Ten Hag remains in charge, asserting that such a move would undermine the Dutchman following their previous discord.
Ferdinand expressed his sentiments on TNT Sports before Dortmund’s Champions League semi-final second 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, stating, “I think the only way he goes back to Manchester United is if Erik ten Hag isn’t there.
“I don’t think they can undermine the manager and let a player not apologize and then bring him back.”
