In the midst of swirling rumors about Marcus Rashford’s potential departure from Manchester United, former Arsenal star Paul Merson offers a unique perspective, suggesting that the England forward may have inadvertently secured his stay at Old Trafford this summer.

Despite longstanding interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Merson believes that Rashford’s inconsistent performances and lacklustre goal tally this season could deter clubs from making substantial offers.

With only seven goals in 31 Premier League appearances, Rashford’s underwhelming form has raised doubts about his inclusion in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Merson, speaking to Sportskeeda, acknowledges Rashford’s talent but highlights his tendency to fluctuate between brilliance and mediocrity, ultimately casting doubt on the likelihood of a lucrative transfer for the 26-year-old forward in the upcoming transfer window.

“There have been reports that Marcus Rashford could be offloaded this summer,” Merson said.

“I like him but he blows hot and cold far too often for teams to pay silly money for him, so I can’t see him getting a transfer this summer.”
