Liverpool’s quest to win the Premier League title took a huge blow on Wednesday night, after they lost 2-0 at Everton in the Merseyside Derby.

The Reds came into the game knowing that only victory will allow them keep pace with Arsenal, who hammered Chelsea 5-0 on Tuesday.

However, it was the hosts who took the lead through Jarrad Branthwaite in the first half.

Although Liverpool threatened several times after the break, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s powerful header took the game beyond the grip of their rivals.

The result means that Jurgen Klopp’s men remain on 74 points with four games left.

They are only one ahead of Manchester City, who have two outstanding fixtures.
