Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is optimistic that midfielder Alhassan Yusuf will be fit to play Nigeria’s next game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Yusuf, who made his competitive debut for the Super Eagles against the Nzalang Nacional was stretchered off in the second half and was replaced by Joe Aribo.

The Royal Antwerp midfielder put up an impressive performance in the game.

Peseiro, who refused to provide any information on the severity of the injury, is hopeful the player will be available for his side’s next game against hosts Cote d’Ivoire.

He said: “I don’t know much about his (Yusuf’s ) injury for now, but we are hoping it is nothing too serious,” Peseiro said in his post-match interaction with the media.

“He started the game because he deserved to play, he played well from the first minute.

‘We hope he will be able to play the next game against Cote d’Ivoire.”
