Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Chelsea would be fighting to stay out of the relegation zone this season if not for forward Cole Palmer.

Palmer has been impressive for Chelsea since joining the club from Manchester City last summer.

He recently scored a hat trick as Chelsea beat Manchester United 4-3.

Palmer was also impressive for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at the weekend, as he helped set up Noni Madueke’s strike against Sheffield United in their 2-2 Premier League draw.

Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Redknapp said: “Chelsea would be in a relegation battle if it were not for Cole Palmer.”

Palmer will hope to lead Chelsea to victory when they face Everton in their next game.
