Florian Wirtz scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.

Bayern Munich threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Heidenheim.

These results mean Leverkusen are now 16 points clear of Bayern at the top of the table.

Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen now need just one more victory to be confirmed German champions for the first time in the club’s history.
