Hosts Ghana will face arch-rivals Nigeria in the final of the women’s football event at the African Games 2023.
Ghana defeated Senegal 3-1 in a thrilling semi-final contest on Monday night to set up a date with Nigeria.
The home team scored twice in the first half through Tracy Twum and Ophelia Amponsah.
The Senegalese reduced the deficit after the break but Amponsah scored again to restore Ghana’s two-goal advantage.
Earlier, holders, Falconets of Nigeria defeated Uganda 2-0 in the first semi-final.
The game remained deadlocked for much of the time until Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 74th minute through Judith Adaobi Okah.
Chiamaka Okwuchukwu sealed Chris Danjuma’s side victory with the second goal one minute from time.
Ghana and Nigeria will battle for the gold medal at Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.
