The Accord Party, AP, has dissolved its National Working Committee, NWC and elected a new leadership.
The party’s immediate past National Chairman, Mohammad Lawal Nalado, who addressed the National Executive Council, NEC, of the party in Abuja on Friday, had served the party for over 20 years.
Speaking, Nalado appreciated members of the NEC of the party and his close allies during his tenure, for the opportunity accorded him to serve the party.
He acknowledged the support he received from those who worked with him, adding that he never had headaches discharging his duties.
He vowed to continue supporting the party to reach greater heights.
Nalado said he voluntarily decided to step aside and opposed a review of the party’s constitution that would have seen him stay for more years as the Chairman of the party.
He called on whoever becomes the party’s next National Chairman to surpass his achievements, adding he is always available to help the next leadership.
“I’m ageing, I’m no longer a young man and I believe my thinking is diminishing. You cannot compare the strength of a young man to that of an old man,” he said.
“I wish the party progress in the continued struggle for a democratised Nigeria.
“Let us continue to be our brother’s keepers. I have forgiven anyone who offended me. I also beg you to forgive me anyway I’ve offended you.”
The Protem National Chairman, Martins Inyang Ansa then presided over the election of Caretaker Committee members of the party.
The party, during the meeting, also elected Barr Maxwell Mgbudem, who is also the National Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, as its National Chairman, Caretaker Committee while Dr Adebukola Abiola Ajaja emerged the National Secretary of the Caretaker Committee.
