The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ibrahim Shittu has emerged winner of the rerun-election conducted in Saki West State Constituency, Oyo State, on Saturday.

Shittu defeated his closest challenger, Julius Okedoyin, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the candidates of other political parties.

DAILY POST reports that the rerun, held in two polling units, became necessary in view of the judgement of the election tribunal.

The tribunal held that over 1,000 voters were disenfranchised, while the margin of victory between the winner, Shittu and the petitioner, Okedoyin was 270 votes.

It sacked Shittu and ordered for a rerun-election in the two polling units.

The judgement was also upheld by the Appeal Court.

At the end of the rerun, the APC candidate polled 13,850, while the PDP candidate had 13,670 votes.
