Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday congratulated Fox News anchor Bret Baier on a “great job” for his “tough but very fair interview” of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

The Republican nominee’s effusive praise is somewhat surprising. Baier has refuted Trump’s claims of fraud in the 2020 election and confronted him about former Cabinet secretaries and staffers who have turned against him. Before the news anchor’s sitdown with the vice president, Trump called him “very soft” on the “‘cocktail circuit’ Left.”

Not surprisingly, the former president used much of his Truth Social post to insult his opponent.

“They said that Comrade Kamala did a terrible job, the absolute worst in memory, and can’t be allowed to do it again,” he wrote. “She is also the WORST Vice president in history, but hopefully will soon be GONE.”

“Again, congratulations to Bret Baier on a tough but very fair interview, one that clearly showed how totally incompetent Kamala is. For the good of our Nation, her inferior Cognitive ability must be tested at once!”

Trump had a chance to exploit her so-called cognitive deficit in a second debate after he flopped the first time ― but he backed down.

Baier’s tense chat with Harris took combative turns as she accused him of interrupting her and whitewashing Trump’s “the enemy from within” comment to describe those who disagree with him. (Trump called reaction to his terminology an exaggeration.)

Baier was criticized in the media for talking over the vice president and using a deceptive clip to diminish Trump’s controversial comments.

“Despite Baier’s best efforts to draw some blood, Harris held her own,” HuffPost’s Igor Bobic reported.
