Ahead of the October 19th local government election, several members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kogi State.
They were received by the APC in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State on Sunday.
Receiving the decampees, the Kogi State Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engr Joseph Oluwasegun noted that the APC has done well in the state and deserves to win the forthcoming council election.
While noting that there is no opposition party in Kogi State, Oluwasegun vowed that the local government election will be an easy ride for the ruling party because they have been accepted by the people at the grassroot.
“APC is Kogi and Kogi State is APC. The large number of decampees today is a clear indication that our party has been widely accepted by the people in view of our tremendous impact over eight years in governance.
“The All Progressives Congress candidates in Kogi State will win the October 19th council election with a wide margin on the back of the achievements of Gov. Ododo’s administration.
“I am using this medium to enjoin the people of Yagba West to come out en mass and vote for the APC. It is only our party that can deliver true dividend of democracy to the people” he stated.
He assured the new party members that they will be treated equally.
