Megyn Kelly says Kamala Harris’ new Vogue cover sends the wrong “message” to young girls.
“What message does this send to little girls? ‘You can become president, just as long as you don’t age, OK? You can’t age, because as a woman, you have to be both hot and credible.’ Like, fuck off, Vogue,” Kelly said on Friday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show.”
Harris’ Vogue cover, which dropped Friday, was met with mixed reactions on social media. While some praised the Democratic presidential nominee’s feature, others accused the outlet of doctoring up the cover’s photo to make the 59-year-old politician appear younger.
“It’s gross Vogue felt the need to airbrush her,” one person said on X, formerly called Twitter, of Harris’ cover.
On her show, Kelly offered more remarks about the cover, calling the edits a “mistake.”
“First of all, this is as airbrushed as a Joan Rivers appearance on any magazine or TV. Kamala Harris looks 39 instead of 59 here,” she said.
“Just let her have the lines, fucking Vogue. Let her have the lines. The lines are not a problem you have to erase for women who are serious and asking for a serious job,” she continued. “She wants to be in command of our Navy SEALs, so stop with the airbrushing! It’s annoying to me.”
While Kelly asserted her criticisms over Harris’ cover, some social media users on X accused her of being a “hypocrite.”
“Megyn Kelly said that Kamala Harris’ airbrushed photo on the cover of Vogue is ‘Bad for little girls,’ while using a camera filter and wearing fake hair extensions,” one person wrote. “What a fucking hypocrite.”
Kelly also criticized Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, and next year’s Met Gala. The event, which Wintour oversees, will honor the style of Black men from the 18th century to the present day with a theme titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Wintour is set to co-chair the 2025 Met Gala alongside LeBron James, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams.
“This is Anna Wintour, who judges us all by her stupid fashion,” Kelly said. “Honestly, right now, she’s launching the Met Gala theme. Guess what it is? ‘Black men and dandyism.’ What is that? Somebody tweeted out, ‘This is a great way to get a bunch of out of touch celebrities canceled in one fell swoop.’ True. Anyway, it’s annoying.”
