Voting has commenced for the ongoing local government election in Anambra State in some polling units across the state, while some are yet to witness the arrival of officials and materials.
At Amikwo Ward 6, Awka South Local Government Area, voting was going on smoothly when DAILY POST correspondent arrived.
There was, however, the absence of security agencies as well as voting cubicle.
Presiding officer Obikwere Joy said a total of 1,883 persons were captured in the voters register.
She said voting started around 10 am.
Voters who spoke to DAILY POST expressed satisfaction with the exercise.
A voter, Mr Ebuka Nna said: “We’re happy with the voting process. At least no sign of violence has been recorded.”
Meanwhile in Odoagba Ward 11, Polling Unit One, only two voters were waiting under a canopy, while the ad hoc staff of Anambra State Independent Electoral COMMISSION, ANSIEC, were yet to arrive.
