Officials of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) are yet to arrive at polling units in parts of the state, DAILY POST can authoritatively report.
ANSIEC had informed journalists on Friday that the election would commence at 8 a.m. and close by 4 p.m., but as of 8:50 a.m., officials were yet to arrive at polling units in most parts of the state.
In parts of Awka visited by our correspondent, there were no signs of the election taking place in those areas.
Polling units visited included Aroma Ward 3, Odoagba Ward 1, and a polling unit at Unizik Junction.
Similarly, at Iyiowa/Odekpe polling units in Ogbaru Local Government Area, an observer, Mr. Agbo Kenneth Chidiebere, told our reporter that no activity had commenced, including the arrival of officials.
He said: “At the time of this report, no ANSIEC ad-hoc staff, security personnel, or electoral materials have arrived at the polling unit. Only one party agent from APGA is here at the moment. People are seen carrying out their monthly sanitation in their various houses.”
