The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC), said 11 political parties will participate in the local government election, including the major opposition parties in the state, the New Nigerian People’s Party, NNPP, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Executive Chairman of the commission, Mr. Auwal Harbo said this while briefing newsmen at the commission’s headquarters, Dutse.
DAILY POST reported that the JISIEC had fixed October 5, 2024, for the conduct of the election.
Harbo explained that only the All Progressives Congress, APC, filled all candidates for council chairmen and councillors across the state.
According to him, APC filled 27 candidates, while NNPP and the PDP filled in some local government areas.
“We have concluded all the necessary preparations for the free, and credible electoral process.
“Also 95% of election materials, including sensitive and non-sensitive materials are ready for distribution.
“We will also recruit 14,794 ad-hoc staff across the 287 political wards of the 27 local government areas,” he said.
The Chairman noted that all measures had been taken to guarantee the security and peaceful conduct of the election.
