The Independent National Electoral Commission said that 98.23 percent of the results of Saturday’s Edo State Governorship election have been uploaded into its Result Viewing Portal as of the time of filing this report.
Accordingly, 4439 out of 4519 results of polling units across the 18 Local Governments of the state have been uploaded.
This means that only results from 80 polling units are yet to be uploaded.
DAILY POST reported that as of Saturday evening, 90.33 percent of the results had been uploaded to the IreV.
According to the results uploaded so far, the battle for the governorship race has been narrowed down to the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Monday Okpebholo and his rival of the Peoples Democracy Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo.
Akpata of the Labour Party and other candidates have been knocked out.
The election has over 2.2 million voters with permanent voters’ cards across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.
Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo, Anugbum Onuoha, reassured of the electronic transmission of the results.
