Labour Party, LP, candidate Olumide Akpata, has successfully cast his vote in the ongoing Edo State governorship election.
Akpata arrived at Polling Unit 11, Ward 6, in Oredo LGA at around 10:30 am, where he expressed satisfaction with the voting process.
Speaking after casting his vote, Akpata expressed optimism that the process would remain smooth across the state and stated the importance of allowing all eligible voters, especially his supporters, to exercise their democratic rights.
DAILY POST reported that despite a heavy downpour that began around 10:00 am in Benin City, the state capital, voters turned out in large numbers at the various polling units.
The Edo State governorship election is being closely contested, with Akpata competing against key candidates such as Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as 2.2 million registered voters determine the state’s next leader.
