Ben Shapiro attempted to burn Kamala Harris for hugging voters, but the attack backfired on the conservative podcaster.
On Sunday, the vice president and Democratic presidential nominee posted a video filmed at Penzeys Spices in Pittsburgh that showed her hugging a voter worried about the upcoming election.
Many of Harris’ supporters liked and retweeted the video, but the wholesome content was apparently upsetting to Shapiro. “If you want your presidential candidate to hug you, please seek psychological help,” he tweeted Monday.
This was just the latest “get off my lawn” gripe from Shapiro, who protested the success of the 2023 Barbie movie by setting a trio of dolls ablaze and complained about the lyrics to the Cardi B./ Megan Thee Stallion banger “W.A.P.”
But many people on X, formerly Twitter, felt that Shapiro’s grievances about presidential candidates hugging voters suggested he has some deep personal issues.
“If you don’t want a presidential candidate capable of hugging, please seek psychological help,” Mark Cuban responded. “Empathy and kindness are skills that are possessed by great leaders in 2024.”
Others mocked Shapiro’s post by contrasting Harris’ hug with all the “weird” stuff Donald Trump and MAGA followers do.
Other people brought receipts to show that hugs can be bipartisan.
