Peter Navarro, Donald Trump’s former adviser who helped plot the attempted election overthrow in 2020, had a message for MAGA world. (Watch the video below.)
On Tuesday, he demanded that Trump supporters stop calling Democratic nominee Kamala Harris by solely her first name.
“I am urging you, from this day forward, never, ever, ever, to refer to Kamala Harris by her first name, only her first name,” the recently imprisoned Navarro said while filling in for current jailbird Steve Bannon on “War Room.” Both men were incarcerated for defying subpoenas to appear before Congress regarding the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
“Kamala, Kamala, Kamala ― she is not a soccer star, OK?” Navarro continued. “Pelé, I get it, Messi, I get it, OK. But when you use ‘Kamala’ these days, it does not do us any good. Works in the other direction. It personalizes her, and it creates a favorable impression. We haven’t been able to do what needs to be done based on her resume, turn Kamala into a four-letter word like Hillary was. So stop doing that, OK? No more Kamala.”
He might have a point. Harris quickly promoted the use of her first name as a campaigning tool when she emerged as the Democratic nominee, Politico reported.
Republicans have regularly botched her name, and Trump has said he “couldn’t care less” whether he mispronounced it.
Actor Kerry Washington helped Harris’ great-nieces re-teach the world how to say Kamala (think “comma” followed by “la” as in a song) at the Democratic National Convention.
But Navarro preached for the MAGA masses to avoid her first-name-only at all costs. “Cut the Kamala crap,” he said.
