The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West geo-political zone, Honorable Isaac Kekemeke, has advised party members in Oyo State not to allow the death of the former Chairman, Hon Isaac Omodewu, to discourage them from reclaiming the state in the 2027 elections.

Kekemeke made this statement on Friday when the leadership of the Southwest caucus of the party paid a condolence visit to the party’s secretariat at Oke Ado in Ibadan, the state capital.

Our correspondent reports that Kekemeke was accompanied by the secretary of the zone, Vincent Bewaji; the legal adviser, Kola Majaro; Publicity Secretary, Ayo Afolabi; Moshood Erubami; Lateef Ibirogba; and the chairman of the party in Ondo State, Engineer Ade Adetimeyin.

The DAILY POST reports that the delegation was received by the Secretary of the party, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite, who represented the Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Olaide Abas; Treasurer, Olalekan Busari; Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare; Youth Leader, John Oyetunji; and Assistant Youth Leader, Sayo Fatoki.

DAILY POST gathered that Omodewu passed away in the United States of America (USA) on Monday.

While addressing the gathering, Kekemeke advised party members not to let the former chairman’s demise weigh them down.

He urged them not to be discouraged by the death of the former chairman in their efforts to win future elections in the state.

Kekemeke further encouraged them to “stay strong and continue striving hard to help the party gain its rightful position in the state.”

He said, “The news of the death of one of our own, a member of the South West Caucus of the APC, came to us as a rude shock. We were in touch with him frequently, and he never showed any sign of weakness; he looked and sounded strong.

“He was such a committed, dedicated, and passionate party leader. He was a generous person, a man with a large heart, and steadfast in his leadership of our party. He loved his people and spoke for them. His loss is a huge one for the South West APC.

“I want to implore all the members and executives of the party in Oyo State to take heart. It is a sad situation, as reflected in everyone’s demeanor. But don’t let it weigh you down; be strong and continue striving for the betterment of the party.

“We commiserate with the immediate family of the deceased, members of the party in Oyo State, the Southwest zone, and Nigeria. We pray that God will console the family of the deceased, the APC family in the state, and the South West Zone.”
