CNN commentator Scott Jennings bombed Thursday with a joke about American-flag wavers at the Democratic National Convention. (Watch the video below.)
Jennings, a GOP strategist who once worked for former President George W. Bush, was marveling at the energy of the delegates during a panel with CNN host Anderson Cooper and analysts Van Jones, David Axelrod and Audie Cornish.
“It’s maybe the loudest we’ve seen it, during the convention,” Jennings said. “These American flags were sort of startling to me, Van. Normally you guys are burning these things. But tonight you’re waving them. ”
“Just kidding,” Jennings added while apparently laughing at his crack.
According to Mediaite, nobody else on the panel joined him. The outlet also noted that “Democratic delegates have waved U.S. flags at every DNC and burned none.”
Many people online weren’t amused either.
“Scott Jennings is Ann Coulter with a penis,” one person wrote on X.
