The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that it has postponed the Local Government Council elections scheduled for October 5, 2024.

Contrary to the reports, RSIEC Chairman, Retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli, insisted that the claims are false, baseless, and unfounded.

In a statement signed on Tuesday, Enebeli emphasized that he has not issued any statement regarding the postponement of the elections and urged the public to disregard the misinformation.

He reaffirmed that the timetable for the local government elections remains unchanged, and the election date of October 5, 2024, is firmly upheld.
