Conservative CNN contributor Scott Jennings didn’t mince words when it came to Donald Trump’s disastrous appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention on Wednesday.
“He did crap the bed today,” Jennings said. “The only question is whether he’s gonna roll around in it or get up and change the sheets.”
Trump attacked the journalists hosting the event, claimed Vice President Kamala Harris “happened to turn Black” only a couple of years ago, and declared himself the best president for Black Americans since Abraham Lincoln, among other things.
But Jennings, who served as special assistant President George W. Bush, said Trump “deserves some points” for even showing up at the event and urged the former to listen to his campaign, which he said can tackle Harris on policy.
By Wednesday evening, however, Trump and his allies weren’t doing that, instead doubling down on his attacks on Harris’ racial background, both on his Truth Social website and at an evening rally.
