A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ashafa Waziri, has said it was imperative for the party to elect leaders who are competent and have the capacity to manage its affairs in the state to greater heights in 2027.
Addressing newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday on his aspiration for the type of leaders needed in the party, he said, “Leaders who will be fair, just and ready to sacrifice their time, knowledge, contacts, and above all his financial resources for the good and progress of the PDP.”
He expressed the belief that he has the ideas and the initiatives to take the PDP to higher heights in Kaduna State and propel the party to the government house in 2027.
He assured that with the power of the Almighty God, and the full support of the teeming supporters, the PDP will bounce back stronger to rescue Nigeria from its present predicament.
The chieftain, who is aspiring for PDP Chairmanship in Kaduna State, explained that his leadership would be anchored on justice, equity, accountability, inclusiveness and transparency, assuring that if elected state chairman, he will reposition the party and carry everybody along.
He said he made a similar attempt of contesting for the state chairmanship of the party a couple of years ago and that he strongly believes that he has something to offer to transform the state chapter of the party for the better.
“I have the wherewithal, the competence, the knowledge, the energy, and the strength to be the bridge builder that will unite the PDP in Kaduna State and restore its past glory.”
Waziri lamented that in 2015, the party ran into crisis and suffered heavy defeat during the elections, pointing out that since then, the narrative has not changed as they have lost two consecutive elections in 2019 and 2023.
He stated that the reason why he is contesting again for the position of state chairman in the forthcoming congresses is to ensure proper groundwork is done for the 2027 elections.
“I have what it takes to mobilise the needed forces across the state to ensure victory for the PDP in 2027,” he assured.
