Salman Idris, the lawmaker representing Ijumu/Kabba-Bunu Federal Constituency of Kogi State, has dumped the Africa Democratic Congress, ADC, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Idris’s defection to the ruling party was disclosed in a letter read on the floor of the House by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.

In the letter, the lawmaker cited crisis at the national level of the ADC for his exit from the party.

However, the Minority Whip, Ali Isa, raised a point of order, citing Section 68 of the 1999 Constitution and called for the seat of the lawmaker to be declared vacant.

But the point of order was dismissed by Speaker Abbas.
