CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale on Wednesday set the record straight on just some of the “misleading or flat wrong” claims made by speakers during the third day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

It was “a fact check doozy, a whole lot of false and misleading claims,” Dale told anchor Anderson Cooper.

Dale called out Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance’s claims about President Joe Biden and GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s views on the Iraq War as “highly misleading at best.”

Rep. Mike Waltz’s (R-Fla.) claim that Biden is focused on electrifying tanks is “pure fiction,” Dale said. “Various speakers depicted a country with rampant crime and violence without acknowledging that violent crime is now lower than it was during Donald Trump’s last year in office,” he added.

Dale also called out GOP former House Speaker Newt Gingrich’s comments about the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and former Fox News host — and fiancée of Trump scion Donald Trump Jr. — Kimberly Guilfoyle’s claims about the economy.
