Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, have lauded the defection of former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
DAILY POST reports that Anyim was formally received into the APC alongside other defectors in the South-East on Saturday by the national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The event took place at the Abakaliki Stadium in Ebonyi State.
In a statement on Sunday, Uzodinma commended Anyim for joining the progressive family with his extensive support base.
According to the South-East APC coordinator, “Anyim’s involvement strengthens our collective efforts to build our region for the benefit of our people.”
On his part, Kalu, who represents Bende Federal Constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, described Anyim’s decision as a step in the right direction for the future of the South-East and the nation.
“With your experience and leadership, I believe that this step will inspire other leaders to join hands in unity for the growth and development of our nation,” the deputy speaker said.
