Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain has accused Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba State of recycling old politicians.
The Chieftain, Hassan Kona, made the allegations on Thursday while reacting to the appointment of Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Community Special Assistants or Heads and Members of Boards, Commissions and Agencies by the governor.
Frowning at the list, Kona insisted the Governor disappointed him, describing the Governor’s move as a mere recycling of old and bemused politicians.
He, however, commended the governor for including some young persons in the long list of appointments which was announced Wednesday night.
He said ”The governor’s action demonstrates the revolutionised system of government and mentorship in the state. If properly tutored and mentored, youths would be properly equipped with the wealth of experience needed to effectively and efficiently take over the future leadership of the state.
”With the governor’s appointment of youths in his cabinet, we thought the era of recycling old leaders was over, surprisingly last night we saw a list of the appointments of over 130 persons with the names of over 100 old politicians dominating.
“We were expecting new young and energetic politicians as aides, the recycling of old politicians by Kefas is a disappointment
“Taraba at this time needs commitment, highly resourceful youths, not recycling of old and bemused politicians, most of whom did nothing tangible in the state when they had the opportunity.
“Governor Kefas is getting it wrong with the calibre of people he has picked to work with. Most of the appointees have been in government since 1999.” Kona said.
The list of the newly appointed aides which was published last night, included past ministers from the state, and former members of the state House of Assembly.
