The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has dissociated the party from what they described as the local government elections scheduled to take place on April 6, 2024.
The party, in a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, stated that the APC in the State does not have an iota of confidence in the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, BYSIEC, which is composed of card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party.
He alleged that there was an already prepared list of winners which would be announced after the election on April 6.
Buokoribo recalled that the BYSIEC issued a notice for elections and asked parties to conduct primaries in 2023, but the PDP could not conduct theirs due to internal wranglings, which led to the postponement of the elections till now.
He stated that once a notice for elections is issued, only emergencies or natural disasters could stop the elections, but in this case, there was nothing like that.
Buokoribo called on all party faithful and supporters not to participate in the election.
