The national chairmanship aspiration of former Benue State governor Gabriel Suswam got a boost on Thursday as Concerned Benue Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Stakeholders endorsed his candidacy.

The stakeholders made the declaration during a meeting on Thursday in Makurdi, Benue State.

Chairman of the Stakeholders, Dr Paul Ubwa, said PDP members in the the state has resolved to mobilize support for Suswam’s aspiration

“Senator Suswan has expressed his intention to occupy the position of national chairman of PDP which is predicated on the constitution of the party that allows a person from the area of the former office holder to take his office when he ceases to be in office,” Ubwa said.

A former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Prof Nicholas Ada, who was the guest speaker at the occasion, said they came to endorse Suswam, who is from Benue and the Middle Belt like the former holder of the office.

“It is logical for us to support Senator Suswam who is the only candidate that has followed due process in his aspiration

“Senator Suswam has intimated stakeholders from his Benue North East senatorial district and he was giving unprecedented support by party members.”

Ada added that Suswam’s chairmanship “will raise the party from the ashes” and place it in its rightful position.
