Lere Olayinka, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, has alleged that some members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, are masquerading as PDP members.
In a statement he issued on Thursday, the former Chief Press Secretary to an ex-governor of the state, Ayo Fayose, alleged that some PDP members who called for the suspension of his former boss over support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji were from the SDP.
According to him, those who worked against the party during the 2022 governorship election in the state are the people claiming to be PDP members.
He said, “Those who ganged up against the PDP during the 2022 governorship election and the 2023 National Assembly elections should stop misleading the public by claiming to be PDP members.
“Seeing the spokesperson at their meeting, and remembering that he was the spokesperson of SDP during the 2022 gubernatorial election, as well as the 2023 general elections, I couldn’t help but ask myself, has their journey in the SDP ended? Or is SDP no longer the party to beat as they used to say?”
While describing his former boss, Fayose as a statesman, who has the right to support anyone, Olayinka said “until PDP as a party begins to have a clear direction, its members will continue to do their own politics as it pleases them.”
