Nigeria’s winless run at the UK’s highest profile music awards ceremony, Brit Awards, continues as the trio of Burna Boy, Asake, and Rema failed to clinch an award at this year’s edition held at London’s 02 Arena on Saturday night.
Burna Boy and Asake were nominated in the Best International Act of the Year category but lost to American star, SZA.
Similarly, Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ also lost the gong for the Best International Song of the Year to Miley Cyrus ‘Flowers.’
Despite the loss, Rema closed the ceremony with an electrifying performance of his hit song, ‘Calm Down.’
He became just the second African artiste to perform at the BRITs after Burna Boy who performed at the ceremony in 2019.
Meanwhile, Raye has extended her record as the artist with the most wins in one year in BRITs history.
She garnered six awards last night, including Best New Artist, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best R&B Act and Songwriter of the Year.
